What is located within easy reach of the villa?
A lot! This Villa is very conveniently located for easy reach of all areas in the Lisbon coast together with areas in the Silver Coast. Torres Vedras is a town surrounded by green hills and fields, grapes vines and trees, this area is a truly stunning place to live or relax.
The matrix below shows all the areas of interest together with a small description and distance from the house. Do keep in minds that good motorway make it quicker to get to these places.

Lisbon City (30-40 mins)

The capital and largest city of Portugal, here you will find many places to visit. Here are some of them The Oceanarium, Belém Tower, Commerce Square, Downtown Lisbon, Figueira Square and Parque das Nações. Also we recommend that you go to the upper old town as there are many restaurants to choose from. The atmosphere is particularly nice during evenings.
If you are planning a day to Lisbon it would possibly be better off using the bus from Torres Vedras to the center and then use the metro to get around. Buses are direct to the city center and take approximately 30 minutes.

Mafra (25 mins)

Mafra - Palace-Convent built in the 18th century, is the largest Portuguese religious monument. It consists of lavish royal apartments as well as 330 cells for its monks, a magnificent library (which houses about 36.000 collectors books that include a first edition of “Os Lusíadas” by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camõe), carillon, basilica and museums. |
Sintra (35 mins)

In the center stands the National Palace, with its beautiful painted rooms and huge pair of conical chimneys, the Village's ex-libris. Other palaces: Pena, Seteais (18th century and currently a luxurious hotel) and Monserrate, renowned for its gardens and water courses. The churches of São Martinho (Romanesque origin), Santa Maria (Roman-Gothic) and São Pedro of Penaferrim (15th - 16th centuries). Nearby Peninha Hermitage (Baroque tile works). The Toy Museum, with over 20 000 pieces from the 16th to the 20th century. In the suburbs: the Capuchos Convent (16th century) and Cabo da Roca (the westernmost point in continental Europe).

Stylish summer resort. Amongst the numerous restaurants, bars and discotheques, are the following historic places: Castro Guimarães Museum and Sea Museum; the 18th century churches of Nossa Senhora da Assunção and Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes; the hermitages of Nossa Senhora da Guia (15th century) and São Sebastião (16th-17th centuries) and the 17th-century fortress. Just a few minutes' away lies Guincho beach (a great place for those who enjoy surfing and windsurfing).

Renowned worldwide as an important tourism spot (casino, golf course and racing track). The Verdades-Farias Museum which hosts an important collection of musical instruments related to popular music, assembled by Michael Giacometti. The beautiful Santo António Church stands out in this cosmopolitan resort, which also boasts an exciting nightlife. |
Santa Cruz (20 mins) |
Perhaps because of the rare natural beauty of its beaches, Santa Cruz is one of the most sought after seaside resorts of the western region. Santa Cruz and its outskirts are favored with a group of beaches with extensive miles of golden sands surrounded by majestic cliffs. No beach gets any closer to the villa than this.

Once the wedding present of a queen, the preserved medieval town of is without doubt one of Portugal's most classic walled settlements. Walking the ramparts, visitors can enjoy views of windmills, vineyards and surrounding farmlands. In the residential area below, narrow cobblestone streets are lined with whitewashed houses sporting terracotta roofs. The shops are piled high with local handicrafts, while in spring the town is ablaze with geraniums, morning glories and bougainvillaea. |
Setubal (50 mins)

Opposite to the Tróia Peninsula (18 km of beaches and golf courses) is the city of the Sado river (an important natural reserve). Places of interest: Museum, churches of Jesus and São João (Manueline), São Domingos, Boa Hora, Santa Maria da Graça and São Julião. The castle includes a Pousada, overlooking Setúbal. |
Fatima (75 mins)

Just 131 kilometres away from the villa, this is probably the second most famous city in Portugal. Mainly for the religious visions that took place there in 1917. The large torch-light processions in honor of the Virgin Mary, which is organised in the evening, are particularly impressive. The pilgrims gather in the Cova, on a huge esplanade in which is built a little chapel where the Virgin is believed to have appeared to the children. The crowds that approach one million on May 13 and October 13. |
Porto (150 mins)

This is the longest trip recommended in our website. Definitely worth a visit if you are willing to do some additional travel. The historic center of Porto was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. |

More about the Beaches ...
There are many, many beaches along the Lisbon coast. The closest to the Villa is Santa Cruz which is 20 minutes west to the villa. Other beaches are located further south or north along the coast. The beaches vary in typology some or large golden sanded beaches facing the Atlantic ocean while others are more secluded. Here are some of the best beaches which are recommended. These are listed in approximate order of distance from the Villa the closet being just 20 minutes drive away from the Villa. SANTA CRUZ, ADRAGA, ERICEIRA, GUINCHO, PORTINHO DA ARRÁBIDA, MECO, TROIA, PRAIA DA CABANA DO PESCADOR, TAMARIZ, SESIMBRA, and MORENA
Surfing, Wind Surfing, Kite Surfing and any other Combination that might Exist

Due to it's geographical position, Portugal is blessed with some seriously sweet swells throughout most of the year. Here are some facts about surfing spots close to the Villa.
- The closest surfing spot is Santa Cruz. This is approximately 20 minutes away from the villa.
- The areas of Peniche, Ericeria and Lisbon contain more than 80 surfing spots and are all within a average 40 minute drive from the Villa's location.
- Ericeira alone, (30 minutes drive away) has 17 surfing spots.

| Given that there are many beaches scattered along the coast it is always recommended that surfers rent a car. The villa is ideally located in the middle of most of the surfing spots on the central Portugal coast making it very easy to access beaches both on the Silver coast and Lisbon coast. |
